Our modern coastal Hawaii Project is a beautiful blend of clean lines, traditional touches, and an emphasis on organic textures that create natural beauty. We wanted the entire home to mimic the easy effortless beauty of the surrounding Hawaiian landscape. We layered the prettiest organic materials and textures that easily stand up to an active coastal lifestyle full of water, sand, and salt. Fundamental to the design is the HEWN floors from the Becki Owens Collection in the Weathered color.
We love this wood-alternative durable flooring. It is designed to look and feel like traditional hardwood floors, but is made of 70% pure limestone which makes it extremely durable, waterproof and sustainable.
You can clean the floors with a mop, broom, or vacuum, and don’t have to worry about scratching it, getting it wet, or having to sand and re-stain down the road. This makes it the perfect choice for this Hawaiian home, but is also a smart in any home with kids, pets, and high traffic.
The Weathered colorway is rich and warm with a slight white-washed look that helps create the coastal vibe of the home. It is a beautiful pairing with the crisp whites and cool grays in the kitchen.
It also looks beautiful in the bedrooms. Because HEWN floors are made to look like European Oak, they not only add durability but also welcoming warmth. The surface of each plank has a beveled edge and is stamped with knots and texture that add interest to the space.
