Our Desert Shores Project is another set amongst the beautiful red rock of Southern Utah. With expansive views of the unique scenery outside, inside we layered rich organic textures in earthy tones. You’ll find cool concrete, artisan tile, a mix of wood tones, soft linens and rich leathers. Take a look at how this aesthetic works in the kitchen.
Contrast is important in the kitchen. We emphasized mixing warm and cool tones which makes the fully neutral spaces feet dynamic. We started with a foundation of cool gray tile flooring, Ardesia Matte Gray from Arizona Tile in 24″ x 48″. This effortless choice allows for stress-free living in this resort community with pools out the back door.
We paired the cool-tone floors with expansive warm wood. We chose custom cabinetry, floating shelves, and counter in Rift Sawn White Oak. The contrast between the two is beautiful. We further emphasized the look with an even richer, darker wood counter stool. The Pavin Counter Stool adds modern midcentury vibes in stained oak and leather. The look is sophisticated, but the materials make it family-friendly.
Notice how the wood counter extends beyond the marble island. The look is unique and adds both interest and functional additional seating to the space!
The counter tops, full wrap island and backsplash match in polished quart. We went with MSI Soapstone in Mist. 2 cm. We love quartz for it’s durability and price-point. Of course a natural marble is gorgeous, but for many clients, quartz works best and creates a great look.
Two beautiful lights help define the style of this space. The Brio Pendant in Blackened Brass has a cool modern look with a bit of a brasserie vibe. We used a trio of these lights above the island, and paired then with our Brylee Wall Sconce above the floating shelves. Lighting is always worth investing in as it creates a style for the space and adds several lighting sources that allow you to brighten or dim the space as a situation calls for.
We love this project and can’t wait to share more of it. To recreate a similar look in your own home, shop the slider below and visit the project on Becki Owens Living.
