Project Reveal: The Brio Bunk Room

Hi! Today I am excited to share images and details of my Brio Project Bunk Room. This is such a fun bedroom with built-in bunks and soft layers of pattern that feel like a subtle bohemian update on traditional. Read on for sources to recreate the look in your own home.

The bedroom starts with a fresh foundation of white paint and light tone wide plank European Oak hardwood flooring. We used the same white paint, Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace, and flooring throughout the home for a beautiful cohesive flow. In the bunk room, we added crisp black accents on the bed for contrast.

To soften the lines of the black and white built-ins, we chose soft Belgium Flax Linen Bedding in a pretty platinum. If you have’t tried linen bedding yet, you need to. It is so soft and airy and creates  a lux lived-in vibe.

Layered on top of the linen bedding, we chose African Baule Pillow Covers. These authentic handcrafted textiles are gorgeous and add an interesting texture to the room. We chose a navy base but each pillow has a different pop of color that adds variation to each bed.

A midcentury sconce in white and brass adds warmth and light to each bunk. It is so pretty and is on sale now at Rejuvenation!  Although the space is a clean traditional, the sconce is a modern touch that feels fresh.

Between the beds, we used a soft Moroccan trellis rug and a large glass and metal nightstand. We chose to style ours with a large beautiful storage basket for quick clean up of books, toys, and nighttime essentials, but it would also look beautiful with books, sculpture, and photos. On top of the nightstand we added ceramics with beautiful neutral pattern. These were from the Project 62 line at Target, which is a favorite for affordable furniture and styling essentials. They are sold out, but here and here create a similar look.

A large 9 drawer dresser from PB Teen enriches the space with warm wood. We styled it with black, white, and brass. We used this beautiful black and white animal print, this black earthenware vase, a brass lamp, and a white and gold ceramic picture frame.

The space is neutral, but layers of warm texture and fun detail creates a warm and inviting bedroom. We designed this project for the St George Parade of Homes. To see more, check out our post on the kitchen, living room, home theater, and master bedroom.

Simply beautiful, and so functional. I am headed in the same direction for a guest room for my grandchildren in one of the bedrooms.
Can you tell me where you got your design plans for the bunks?
I need the exact same layout as pictured here in your room because of space limitations.
thanks for any help you can give me!

  2. Hi – We just had our builder make them custom based on the layout of the space. A good carpenter/cabinet maker will be able to help you with pictures.
