Modern Mix - A Bold Floral Bedroom

I hope you have all had a wonderful, relaxing Memorial Day weekend. Recently I finished installation on wonderful and fun client’s bedroom. What was your average guest room, was transformed into a rich, modern space with some wow factor. My goal for the space was to create a refined space with unique personality and unexpected details. Take a peek into this bold floral bedroom….

When I saw the space I knew right away I wanted to make a statement and ground the design with bold, dark floral wallpaper. It’s large-scale florals set a rich and luxurious tone for the rest of the design. From there the challenge was to make the space feel modern and elegant with a twist.

The key to this space coming together was in the details. I focused on lighting and accessories that would define the room. I looked at Horchow to shop for most of these elements. You may have noticed me highlight Horchow in previous post. It’s one of my favorite online resources for accessorizing my designs. They have a distinctive mix of luxury goods for the home. I find there is something for everyone, so it’s a good resource for me to use when I’m trying to express my clients unique personal style.

I think my favorite find from Horchow was this gorgeous capiz chandelier. It makes a stunning statement, introducing the modern mix into the space with just the right amount of airy, delicate details. Plus, it was surprisingly a great price. I love when I can find something that looks expensive at an affordable price point.

The room has an artistic, collected feel from the combination of furniture and accessories. The curved modern lines of the white bulb lamps add polish and mix well with the clean lines of the nightstands (similar), while the draped, linen throw softens the structured curves of the headboard (similar here and here).

To polish off the space, I had a little fun with the textiles. I found this pale pink, fur pillow and mixed it with the bold lines and colors from vintage pillows. This trio was the icing on the cake, tying together the soft and structured elements in the room.
