Today I’m very excited to reveal one of my recent commercial projects and introduce you to an amazing gift and party supplies shop, Missy’s on Del Mar. Owner and client Missy White is a kind and wonderful person with an eye for the perfect gift. You may already follow @missys_on_del_mar, her vibrant Instagram account featuring her local pop up shops that are full of on trend high quality finds. I’m happy to announce that now you can visit her first store location at 220-A Avenida Del Mar in San Clemente, CA. See the full reveal of this project below.
From start to finish this project was was so fun to work on that we wanted to share a little bit of the design process with you.
These renderings give a little insight into the inspiration for the store and how it all came together. Our goal for this space was to create a clean, fresh design with a unique mix of vintage, natural and modern elements.
The foundation for the space is a black and white zig zag, tile by Cletile. The fresh, monochromatic pattern sets the tone for the space and pairs well with the vibrant colors in the store.
From the moment you walk in the space comes alive with a modern, fresh feel. Shiny industrial accents from brass pipe shelving and School House Electric cone pendants keep the space feeling modern and bright. We wanted the eye to be drawn around the store and from front to back so I knew lighting was key. The brass cone pendants paired perfectly with the shelving and created a lot of light in the space.
A blue velvet couch with vintage textiles creates a spot to visit with friends and get to know the great family who runs the business. We wanted the space to feel inviting and reflect the happy, party theme of the store.
The design was carried through to the bathroom with natural wood counters and bold black and white tile. It was a smaller space so we wanted it to feel light and organic with a fun modern edge.
A the back of the store, simple white square tile creates a clean backdrop for the colorful display of balloons at the cash wrap. Every inch of this store has personality.

Love all of your work and the images you posted for this project. I was wondering what program you used to share your design inspiration with the client. Was CAD used or is there another product that is user friendly that you use to create your visual floor plans.
