One of the most transformative elements in any home is lighting. It has the power to set the mood, highlight architectural details, and create that effortless feeling of warmth that makes a house feel collected and welcoming. In our Sunset Shore project, lighting became one of the defining design elements, helping us create a relaxed coastal aesthetic with elevated, organic character.

This project embraces one of our favorite lighting trends right now: layered natural textures paired with timeless silhouettes. Rather than relying on a single statement fixture, we carefully mixed pendants, sconces, and lamps throughout the home to create depth, warmth, and visual interest from room to room.

Glass and Brass

Sunset Shores

At the heart of the design is the Destiny Pendant. With its textured glass and aged brass detailing, it brings a beautiful organic element to the space while still feeling refined and sophisticated. The sculptural light softens the architecture and casts a warm, inviting glow. Textured glass lighting continues to be a major trend because it adds character and dimension without overwhelming a room.

Glass shades on sconces above the sink in the butlers pantry mimics the glass and brass look in a classic shape. This layer of glass and brass is picked up here and there throughout the design including the bedroom below.

Across the kitchen, in the dining room, we used another trending lighting look, the woven Sierra Pendant.  Woven textures used throughout the home, help create a relaxed coastal look we love through interesting texture and natural color.

In the bathroom, the woven Lananre sconce creates an earthy, coastal feel that is both relaxed and elevated.  Bathroom sconces can error toward being boring and purely functional. We picked these to continue to define the homes aesthetic through a mix of character-filled lighting.

In the basement, a pair of Nicasio Lamps adds another woven moment. The warmth of the lamps contrasts with the crips glass and brass sputnik chandelier above.

Ceramic

To finish our lighting look, we added oversized ceramic table lamps throughout the home. Paired with the textured glass and woven natural fibers, cool ceramics create an earthy organic vibe to the lighting story. Ceramic lamps feel artisan and can take on interesting, sculptural forms. incorporate rich textures and sculptural forms. Shop the cermaic Kamila Lamp used here.
