A Modern Mediterranean Kitchen Transformation

Jenna Sue Design

One of our favorite DIY designers is Jenna Sue Design. Her transformations are always inspiring as she is as mindful of budget as she is good design. Her most recent kitchen transformation takes an awkwardly placed and dated kitchen and transforms it into a charming Mediterranean dream space with soft, subtle color, beautiful hand-painted tile, and thoughtful details that create a custom high-end feel on a budget. Take a look at this fresh, dreamy space.

Before

The original kitchen was closed off and awkwardly situated in the middle of the great room. The forgettable space was built in to a nook meant to conceal it from the view of the living space. It’s a dated design idea.

After

A jaw-dropping new look, right? A great blend of sophistication and charm. Tearing out the old kitchen nook and reconfiguring the space to create an open, airy kitchen makes it a showpiece meant to be seen and enjoyed.

Cabinetry Design and Paint

A full wall of floor to ceiling cabinetry creates a long vertical line that elongates the walls and creates a custom high-end look. The beautiful soft sage green color is Benjamin Moore October Mist. The cabinet boxes are DIY’d with cabinet doors from Nieu in the ARH Slim Shaker Detail. The island is painted Benjamin Moore Creamy White.

Countertops

The two tone paint is a beautiful warm look that creates subtle contrast with the crisper white Hanstone Quartz Drift counters.

Tile

The hand painted tile adds beautiful pattern and texture to the kitchen and is at a more affordable price point then many hand crafted tiles. Take a closer look here.

Custom Hood

That incredible range hood is completely DIY. It creates an incredible focal point in the space. To see more how it was created, read here.

Hardware and Lighting

Unlacquered brass accents correspond to the warm woods and add contrast to the sage green cabinets. Although unlacquered brass does require some upkeep, the patina really creates a beautiful rich look. To get affordable lighting that matched, the sconces and pendants got a makeover with Gold Leaf Rub ‘n Buff.
