When creating a space where you kids will want to hang out, we try to find the perfect balance between comfort, function, and beauty. In our Double Eagle Project, we transformed a light-filled loft into a room where everyone can hang out comfortably and upkeep is effortless. Take a peek!

Seating is the most important aspect of a cozy hangout. Family and friends should be able to gather round and comfortably lounge. In this loft, we selected leather for durability, clean lines for a fresh modern look, and a sectional and small footprint accent chair to maximize space.
It doesn’t take a huge wall of built-ins to make a functional entertainment wall. Save space and money by hanging your TV and then grounding the space underneath it with a beautiful console table. The drawers allow you to hide gaming systems, remotes, and other wires. Style with books, photos, and greenery to add beauty.
We added a fun foosball table to the space that is fun for both kids and teens, plus sets the vibe for the room. If it works better for your space or family, another idea is to add a round table to work as a game/homework space. Check out this look in How to Transform a Playroom into a Teen Hangout.
These types of spaces should feel warm and welcoming. Encourage lounging with layers of soft textiles. A large rug, a cozy throw, and plenty of pillows. In this space we used warm textiles in corals, mustards and browns that look beautiful with the soft blue in the rug and the rich leather sofa.
You don’t need a huge basement or expensive built-ins to create a comfortable, functional gathering space for kids of all ages. A few key pieces set the vibe and encourage friends and family to gather and relax. For more cozy hangout ideas read, How to Create the Modern Media Room.
