Estillo Project: Classic Modern Kitchen

Today I am excited to share kitchen details from my recent Estillo project. I earlier shared the clean lines and white palette of the Estillo project living room and since the kitchen is adjacent, my goal was to create a seemless flow between the two spaces. Take a peek at this classic modern kitchen with brass accents.

Because the kitchen is a focal point in this home, I wanted to make sure that the space felt fresh and polished. I chose a gorgeous slab of statuary marble for the backsplash and counters. Statuary marble has that clean white background that I wanted for the space, but it has heavy dark gray veining which adds beautiful, rich, depth . It’s one of my favorite choices for kitchen marble. You may recall I’ve highlighted it before in my roundup of marble countertops. (You can see the complete Q+A on selecting marble countertops here.)

The kitchen has a very classic feel with clean, chrome hardware to compliment the gray accents in the marble. The custom cabinetry and walls were painted Benjamin Moore’s Swiss Coffee, and the ceiling is shiplapped for subtle detail that enriches the space.

The European oak floors add warmth, as does a vintage blue and gray rug. The kitchen maintains the casual beachy vibe of the home with linen and salvaged wood barstools and chairs.

To add color and a polished feel, I selected black lighting accents. I love the contrast of black against the white counters and cabinetry. One of my favorite elements is the industrial swing-arm sconce above the sink. It adds a bit of character and pairs well with the cone pendants. A metal and wood round table was the perfect size for this family eating area and tied in well with the gray tones in the marble counters.

Although the rug and furniture placement keeps the kitchen and living room as two defined spaces, you can see how the fresh white foundation, natural fabrics, salvaged wood, and brass accents tie them together.

I loved my clients taste and had fun designing this kitchen with them. To recreate the look of this classic modern kitchen in your own home, check out the resources I’ve gathered below.
