Villa Bonita Laundry Details + Design Tips

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen a shot or two of this laundry space from our Villa Bonita Project. I get a lot of questions about it. So today, I want to share the whole space here on the blog and spill all the details from paint color to pendant.

A Fresh Foundation

Our Villa Bonita Project is a fresh take on traditional with layered neutrals and organic textures. Throughout the home we used white walls and light wood floors to create a bright and airy foundation. Here in the laundry room, the walls are 6″x 6″ matte tile in Pearl White paired with dark grout and warm wood floors, Provenza Old World in Warm Sands.

Colored Cabinetry

A laundry room is a fun space to try out colored cabinetry. Although in this home we wanted the pallet to stay neutral, we still wanted a little contrast and warmth. Instead of the white paint used on the kitchen cabinets, we chose a warm gray, Smoke Embers by Benjamin Moore. It’s a beautiful color to pair with crisp white and warm wood. For other neutral favorites + bolder color options, check out our Cabinetry Paint Guide.

Pretty Hardware

Hardware adds a lot to your design and does not need a large budget. Here we used affordable brass cabinet pulls (similar here and here) that add a little bling to the space.

Storage Space

To maximize storage space for all the laundry and cleaning essentials, we lined one wall with floor to ceiling cabinets. We didn’t carry these upper cabinets throughout because we wanted the small space to still feel open. Instead, we paired the cabinetry with open shelving that allows easy access to everyday laundry essentials. The oak shelves are stained to match the floor and add organic warmth to the cool space.

Counter Space

One design tip that makes your laundry space more effective is to create built-ins under a counter for your washer and dryer. These Caesarstone counters in Organic White create a dedicated place for folding and storing your piles of clothes until they can be put away.

Statement Light

Elevate your design with a statement light. Keeping on top of a household means that you spend a good amount of time in the laundry room. Beautiful lighting and other pretty design details can make the space worthy of your time. This one in Villa Bonita is a client favorite, the Apollo Pendant by Robert Abbey.

Style your Space

Give your space personality and make it functional with beautiful stying essentials. We always use beautiful baskets for laundry and storage, canisters (here, here, and here) for cleaning essentials, and a turkish towel or two for clean hands and pretty texture.
