Today, I am excited to reveal pics of the kitchen of our Divertirse Project. It’s a timeless space with a classic white foundation and rich dark hardwood floors. Our goal was to update this kitchen with layers of coastal texture and give it a modern edge with sophisticated black accents.
When our client moved in to this home, she was lucky to already have a kitchen with classic appeal–white cabinetry, marble counters and backslash, and dark floors. We decided to work with the existing elements and focus on lighting, furniture and styling to give it a new, updated look.
We always believe the right lighting makes the space. A statement light elevates your design and instantly creates a curated feel.
For this project we looked to The Urban Electric Co. for the perfect lighting. The Urban Electric Co. is an incredible company out of Charleston, South Carolina that creates hand-made artisanal lighting of heirloom quality. They use metals known for lifetime durability and hand-blown glass. Their collection includes over 300 different fixtures in 30 different finishes all hand-applied so that your light can truly match the design vision for your space. Their lights are stunning.
Our inspiration for this space was built around the Dover Bell. The light’s timeless design paired perfectly with the existing traditional elements in the kitchen. We love how the design of the glass bell keeps the space feeling light, open and airy and the black finish creates rich contrast to the all white space. It was a perfect fit for the space and foundation for the rest of the design.
On installation day we found out that it isn’t only the lights that make this company special, it is the service as well. The Urban Electric Co. offers a unique, regional service called FLEET. After each light is hand-crafted in Charleston, regional FLEET artisans inspect the lights and then offer to hand deliver. FLEET also provides a White Glove delivery service or assistance with lighting assembly prior to installation by an electrician.
The specialists that showed up at Divertirse were so incredible. My team said they were a dream to work with. The members of the FLEET service had worked for the company for a long time in different capacities and were super knowledgeable about everything from the design and creation of the the lights. It really was a pleasure to with The Urban Electric Co. from start to finish and especially their FLEET team. I love how the complications that can come with light installations are completely avoided through this service.
The rest of the design came together to create a fresh, coastal look. The black saddle counter stools were the perfect compliment to the curved lines of the glass bell pendants. We then selected unique woven bistro chairs from Lulu and Georgia and a beautiful cocoa bead chandelier from Gabby Home to create the kitchen nook. The space was finished by styling it with organic woods and green succulents to add color and warmth, resulting in a kitchen with a new traditional mix – coastal elements, timeless pieces and a bit of modern edge.
