The Modern Coastal Kitchen of our Hawaii Project

Hawaii Project / Adam Taylor Photography

The kitchen of our Hawaii Project brings us back to our Modern Coastal roots with a beautiful blend of clean lines, traditional touches, and an emphasis on organic textures that create natural beauty. We are so excited to share it with you today! Take a look and read on to see how we created the look.

PAINT

Crisp white walls, painted Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace, create a fresh and airy foundation that emphasizes the pretty coastal sunlight that shines into the space. For subtle contrast and warmth, the cabinetry is painted Benjamin Moore Grey Owl. This is a beautiful neutral that adds depth to the space.

FLOORING

The beautiful flooring is part of the Becki Owens Collection from HEWN floors in the Weathered color. We love this wood-alternative durable flooring. Crafted largely from from stone, the floors have the rich warm beauty of wood but hold up effortlessly to kids, pets, water, and general ware-and-tear. The color is made to recreate the beauty of European oak and it blends seamlessly with the other warm tones in the space.

TILE

The dimensional backsplash tile is Cle Tile’s Zellige in Weathered White. We love the way this handmade tile adds character to a space. The tile is 2″x6″ and set in a herringbone pattern with white grout to match.

STATEMENT STONE WALL

The beautiful stone statement wall is Rough Cut stone from Eldorado Stone Rough Cut in Casa Blanca. This manuafactured stone mimics limestone with subtle warmth and texture. We overgrouted the stone with a light grout to create an even softer look. This stone is carried throughout this home. We can’t wait to reveal each space and show you how it all works together.

HARDWARE

The subtle gray of the cabinetry is the perfect backdrop for the warm brass Ladd Pull. We love this contrasting combination of tones. The warm metal tone is kept consistent throughout the space with the Brizo Odin Kitchen Faucet and Brizo Litze Pot Filler.

LIGHTING AND FURNITURE

A major focal point of the space is the lighting above the island. These beautiful pendants are from the Becki Owens x HVL collection. We love how the traditional idea of a lantern light is made modern with a unique shape and metal accents. We paired the pendants with the Katie Sconce in brass and milk glass from Visual Comfort.

The unique counter stools have beautiful modern lines in metal and linen. They add warmth and beauty to the space with a little bit of cool modern edge.

THE PANTRY

The pantry is a favorite. Zellige backsplash tile and Benjamin Moore Gray Owl paint tie the space in to the adjacent kitchen. But the space stands out with two tone cabinetry and handmade terracotta tile on the floor from Tabarka Studio.
