Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing details throughout our Pura Vista project, a modern and airy desert home, made livable for large gatherings and poolside days. Our goal was to make each space feel unique, comfortable and yet elevated, so guests can sink into a soothing, sophisticated atmosphere. The design incorporates the organic elements of its surroundings. This guest room, filled with natural light is a great example of how the design reflects the clean and warm simplicity of a desert landscape with use of mixed wood tones, fresh crisp linens and a tone on tone palette.

Lighting was key to maximizing the open feel of this room. We choose our Stacey, six light, statement chandelier as a focal point over the bed. A pair of substantial, artisan style, ceramic lamps add an opportunity for creating a soft mood in the evening. The cream tones of the lamps pair perfectly with the white, open nightstands and a rustic wooden bench warms the end of the boucle upholstered bed. The walls are part of Benjamin Moore’s off white collection in shade Seapearl.

While this home has a modern clean, feel, we were careful to add warmth with textiles. The high/low pile of this Surya, Sousse rug makes this space cozy under foot. A tassel edge adds a bit of character and charm. This rug really makes and impact by making the space feel livable and inviting. The unique design also gives it a global, collected vibe and the neutral tones pair well with the warmer wood tones in the furniture.

One of our favorite elements of this space if the beautiful flooring. It is part of the Becki Owens Collection from HEWN floors in the Weathered color. We love this wood-alternative durable flooring. Crafted largely from from stone, the floors have the rich warm beauty of wood but hold up effortlessly to kids, pets, water, and general ware-and-tear. This was a great choice for this home as it sits on a lagoon and is intended for family gatherings and high traffic. The color is made to recreate the beauty of European oak and it blends seamlessly with the white oak cabinetry and floating shelves in the space.
