This season, I find myself returning again and again to the design details from our Three Falls Project. Nestled against the mountains and filled with rich textures and natural materials, it perfectly captures the cozy sophistication we all want our homes to embrace this time of year. The design is rooted in timeless elements, but it also highlights several of the biggest trends that feel especially inviting for fall.
Warm Woods That Add Instant Comfort
One of the defining features throughout the Three Falls Project is the use of warm honey-toned woods. After years of cooler finishes dominating interiors, warmer wood tones are making a strong return. Whether incorporated through cabinetry, ceiling treatments, furniture, or flooring, these rich wood grains bring depth, character, and an unmistakable sense of comfort. They create the perfect backdrop for seasonal decorating and make every room feel more welcoming.
Organic Stone and Natural Texture
Fall design is all about embracing nature, and few materials accomplish that better than stone. Throughout the Three Falls Project, exposed stone walls create beautiful architectural moments while adding warmth and texture. Natural stone instantly grounds a space and pairs beautifully with soft textiles, warm woods, and layered lighting. Whether you incorporate stone through a fireplace surround, accent wall, or decorative accessories, it’s a trend that feels timeless and especially beautiful during the cooler months.
Layered Neutrals That Feel Cozy, Not Flat
Neutrals continue to dominate interiors, but this season they’re being layered in more intentional ways. Varying shades of cream, ivory, taupe, and soft gray can create a space that feels serene yet full of dimension. By mixing linen, boucle, wood, stone, and woven textures, neutral palettes feel rich and inviting rather than stark or minimal. Any pops of color you use against this layered neutral backdrop have a huge impact.

Fall feels like the right season to celebrate materials that feel softer and more organic. Honed stone, matte finishes, and textured surfaces feel earthy and organic. One of the design principles we used throughout the Three Falls Project was layering multiple light sources within a room. Statement pendants, lanterns, sconces, table lamps, and floor lamps work together to create warmth and ambiance throughout the day.
