Project Reveal: Double Eagle Living Space

May 13, 2019

Happy Monday! Today we are excited to share with you the details of another space in our Double Eagle Project. This airy home blends clean modern lines with warm rustic textures. The beautiful red-rock view of St. George, Utah is a focal point out the oversize windows, so inside we kept things fairly neutral with pops of subtle color, lux textiles, and lots of texture. Read on for sources!

New Decor For The New Year

10 Neutral Living Spaces that Inspire

July 12, 2017

Although there is a beautiful vibrancy to a colorful space, I love a room layered with neutrals. Clean whites, natural textiles and woods, and pops of contrasting black create a room that feels crisp, fresh, and relaxing. Because the color palette is simple, layers of texture are what add interest. Take a peek at these ten living spaces and see how their lux layers make the case for keeping things neutral.

7 Ways to Style a Coffee Table

July 6, 2017

Restyling your coffee table is a quick way to refresh your living room. A bare table can feel too impersonal while too many knick-knacks, tv remotes, and random piles can feel cluttered. Today I’m sharing ideas for overhauling the space with a curated collection of things you love.

Collected Collection of Books

Las Palmas Project

Lisa Stanton

A collection of books that you love adds personality and color. Barnes and Noble and Amazon have great art books as does Anthropologie. It’s fun to spend an afternoon browsing to find one or two that fits you. Another fun idea is to create Chatbooks from your Instagram photos to display.

A Beautiful Tray for Serving and Organizing

Estillo Project

One Kings Lane

A tray can protect your coffee table from drinks and food or can make an assortment of necessities like tv remotes feel organized and intentional. You could use a flat basket, a marble slab, or a shallow wooden bowl to serve as a tray.

A Candle to add Soft Glow and Scent

Las Palmas Project

Add a candle to your table in an interesting container. Above, I found a black glass candle that fit in with the rooms black accent. Another look I love, is an oversized candle in a pot or bowl. The size makes a pretty statement.

Add Organic Texture with Strands of Beads

House Seven Design

Beads add a unique texture. Pile several strands in a bowl, or drape one or two across the table. Try a pretty combination of wood, glass, and bone. Etsy is a great source for beautiful beads at an affordable price.

A Hand-Carved Wooden Bowl

Gorjana Project

Alta South Project collaboration with Nicole Davis

A wooden bowl adds a rich organic vibe. Look for one in an interesting shape or with a bold grain.

Something Sculptural or with a bit of Shine

Heber House Project collaboration with Jamie Bellessa

Consider adding a decorative element in an interesting sculptural shape or with a bit of shine. We styled our Heber House library table with brass orbs and stone boxes to add interest. You could also find a piece of pottery, an beautiful vase, or something organic like coral or a grapewood branch.

Add Life with Greenery in a Pretty Pot

Greenery brings a colorful freshness to the space. I love vases of fresh flowers, but a low-maintenance potted plant is effortless. Succulents take little thought but add a beautiful combination of colors and texture. Check out by Succulent Plant Guide for ideas.

Styling your coffee table can be easy and affordable but have big impact. Start keeping an eye out for items you love to make your living room feel inviting and collected.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Las Palmas Project Living + Dining Room

February 15, 2017

Last week I shared the fresh white kitchen of my coastal bohemian Las Palmas Project. Today, I am excited to continue the tour with the living and dining rooms. Like the kitchen, these spaces have clean, neutral foundations layered with organic texture, rich color, and hints of black for modern polish. Take a peek inside this beautiful modern bohemian coastal home.

Living Room

In the living room, we took advantage of the light-filled room by layering whites. We started with walls painted Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace and a beautiful vintage kilim in black and white stripe, added two large white linen sofas, and custom white drapes. The living room is open to the second story which creates a pretty airiness, but the drapes help define the space and keep it from feeling cavernous.

From the white foundation, we added different colors and textures to create warmth and interest. Black and brass accents keep the space modern, while warm natural woods of the coffee and side tables create an organic coastal feel.

Vintage textiles bring pattern to the space. I love this large-scale framed textile on the wall paired with mudcloth throw pillows.

Black leather sling chairs across from folding x-base stools round out the seating and create an eclectic, casual vibe.

Dining Room

BECKI OWENS Las Palmas Dining Room + Entry

A cozy dining nook sits open to the entry. We kept the entire dining table design natural and relied on texture rather than color to add interest. A round natural oak table is paired with these awesome woven dining chairs and a the chandelier made of intricate cocoa beads. The door painted in Benjamin Moore Black Satin adds contrast to the light woods in the space.

BECKI OWENS Las Palmas Dining

In an open-concept space, lighting can define each area. This statement light makes the dining space feel separate and unique from the rest of the room. For tips on how to hang your own statement light, check out this post here.

BECKI OWENS Las Palmas Sideboard

The light woods contrast with the black front door and buffet. Earthy wood serving bowls and glass jars add a touch of coastal to the space.

Plants add a fresh pop of color to the otherwise simple color palette. For greenery ideas in your own space, make sure to read this Succulent Plant Guide.
