Heber Project: Modern Bunk Room

June 5, 2017

I have a fun space reveal to share with you today, the bunk room of our Heber House Project collaboration with Jamie Bellessa. This is a kid-friendly, cozy space with layers of warm neutrals, rustic wood, and brass accents that look beautiful in this mountain home. If you would like to see more of out Heber House Project you can visit the blue modern farmhouse kitchen, the master bedroom, and the library. Take a peek!

Photography: Lindsay Salazar

To create a fresh foundation in the space, we chose light carpeting and Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee paint. Although we often paint all the trim a matching white, in this room we left the window trim a natural wood in order to create warmth and embrace the rustic vibe of the location.

Layered rugs protect the light carpet and add warmth to the space. We chose a vintage Turkish kilim rug in earthy tones paired with a plush faux sheepskin. I love using fur to the side of a bed. Sinking your feet into the plush rug creates a sense of luxury as you get in and out of bed. A pair of beautiful bunk beds in a dark weathered wood add plenty of sleeping room for family and guests. The bedding is neutral, but ombre pillows and geometric patterned sheets add subtle interest.

A clean-lined white campaign dresser with brass hardware serves as both storage and night stand between the two beds. We styled the piece with greenery, books, and  this cool geometric concrete lamp that lends a modern rustic feel.

We finished off the space with a large brass mirror, brass sconces above each bed, and a few fun details for the kids like the fur bean bag and tee pee.

This modern bunk is fresh and clean feeling but with subtle colors and textures that create an inviting warmth. It is a kid-friendly space but still feels sophisticated enough for adult guests. To create this feeling in your own home, get the look below.

Happy Monday!

Kailee Wright Master Bedroom Reveal

May 30, 2017

Today I am excited to share the master bedroom of blogger Kailee Wright. Kailee wanted to update her room to create a fresh space with clean, simple decor that still felt timeless. In order to get the look she was after, we partnered with Layla Grace and Gabby Home. These retailers have a beautiful selection of unique finds. Take a peek below at Kailee and her beautiful family in this bedroom transformation.

We updated the foundation of the space with walls painted Benjamin Moore Greystone at 50%. This gray paint has a touch of taupe that brings a serene warmth. The color paired beautifully with the neutrals in the Loloi Anastasia rug in the Mist colorway. The pattern in this rug lends a traditional feel, while the distressing brings a modern edge. It was perfect for Kailee’s aesthetic.

We created a lux warmth on the bed with layers of neutral textiles. We started with the Gabby Home Aria Bed. This ivory upholstered wingback has subtle detailing that adds interest to the clean lines. We then layered a crisp white cotton duvet and throw pillows that add subtle texture through fur and a simple print. The soft landscape wall art above the bed compliments the neutral tones in the space.

Bright white table lamps and the Gabby Home May Nightstand pop against the greige walls while the gold adds a bit of warmth and shine. We styled with greenery for a pop of color.

A cool oversized lantern pendant in antiqued gold with modern globe lights by Gabby looks beautiful and grounds the airy space. Across from the bed, the Gabby Home Rosalyn Chest adds storage and another pretty layer of white. We styled the dresser with a large pointed arch gold leaf mirror and structural white ceramic planters and greenery.

New Decor For The New Year

Heber House Project – Master Bedroom

April 3, 2017

The master bedroom embraces a modern minimalism with layered textiles for warmth. To create a fresh foundation, the walls and trim are painted Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee, a soft warm white. Exposed beams and tongue and groove on the vaulted ceiling add rustic warmth.

The airy white space is grounded with a beautiful distressed indigo rug and black four poster bed by Noir (or take a look at this Noir bed for a similar look with straight lines). This incredible blue gray batik and oak bench at the foot of the bed adds pattern and texture.

Layers of white linen and furs create a lux warmth. The linen duvet and shams are a favorite by Matteo. Tasseled throw pillows create subtle interest (a similar option) while a faux fur lumbar pillow and throw feel rich.

A distinctive round mirror by Surya looks beautiful above the bed. The variegated tiles resemble bone and tie together the different neutrals in the space. To fill the space created by the vaulted ceiling, we chose a pretty chandelier with draped wooden beads.

Styling Tip: Ground a high ceiling with a large statement chandelier.

A driftwood cabinet with a lattice pattern adds another layer of texture. I love how the weathered wood contrasts with the black bed. Styled on the nightstand, we selected a pretty indigo print (similar here and here) and a glass and brass table lamp. Read last week’s Splurge and Save Table Lamps post to get this look for less.

In the corner, next to the beautiful marble fireplace, we created a comfortable nook. We chose a plush linen slipcovered lounge chair (similar here), a natural tree-stump side table just big enough for a drink, a book, or pop of greenery, and a brass task lamp.

Styling Tip: Complete each space by styling with greenery. Read more here.

Crisp white walls in Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace paired with light natural wood floors (Provenza Dessert Haze) created the perfect foundation for the neutral colors in this space. We maximized the use of natural light and highlighted the gorgeous view from the bedroom windows with white linen drapery hung by oversized brass rods. With so much great light this space was the perfect place to incorporate a coastal palette, a mix of cool tones and warmth from natural wood accents.

Black accents from pillows on the bed and a fur throw on the statement chair compliment the blue tones in the room and give the space a bit of a modern edge.

Unique modern accessories like the white stool (similar), used as a side table were paired with mid-century pieces to create a fresh, eclectic mix, creating a a new take on coastal style.

To incorporate entertainment, we used a crisp white console (similar) with brass accents and styled it with mid-century vases and black, marbled frames. It’s a beautiful display in the space that adds to the sophisticated feel of the bedroom.

To take this casual bedroom and create a softer, more feminine vibe, we started by adding a beautiful rug in soft neutrals. Although the space is already carpeted, layering a rug creates a lux coziness and the pretty pattern adds interest. T.J.Maxx is a great resource for rugs at affordable prices.

BECKI OWENSBedroom Refresh9

Next, we switched out the bedding and pillows. We chose subtle gray stripe sheets for a hint of pattern and velvet throw pillows that add soft texture and a bit of shine.

BECKI OWENSBedroom Refresh1

Monochromatic white accessories on the side table create a modern polish. We chose a fun ceramic lamp, a marble frame, and a sweet little tray. You hunt until you find the accents that are unique to your style and space.
