Throughout our Family Ties Custom Build we used one of our favorite trends, black and white tile. Because we wanted to create an artisanal feel in the modern organic build, we partnered with Zia Tile. Their cement tiles are handmade by artisans on three continents using traditional techniques. Black and White Zelliege
Moroccan Zellige Tiles are handmade glazed terra cotta. We love them for adding incredible sheen and texture to a neutral space. In this multi-functional utility room we paired 2″x6″ Carbon Black Zelliege with 3.5″ Pure White Zelliege Hex. The paired geometric shapes adds additional interest in the space. We love using tile in a utility room. It makes the space perfect for any messy project from laundry to art.
This tile pairing also looks beautiful in our pool bath. We paired it with natural wood and soft textiles.
Black and White Patterned Cement Tile
In the rec room counter and bar we used Echo in White-Black. This beautiful patterned cement hex tile adds crisp modern lines to soft neutral space. Adding tile underneath your countertop and on the wall behind open shelving is a detailed look that elevates the space.
Black and White Geometric Shapes
In this guest bathroom, we paired 8″ Oslo Cement Hex with White 2″x8″ Cement Tile. The modern patterned floor pairs in a pretty way with the traditionally staggered wall tile. We complemented the look with a black vanity, black fixtures and warm natural fiber baskets.
Black and White Stacked Tile
We love using traditional shapes in non-traditional ways. In this bathroom we paired 4″ square Slate Grey Zellige with white cement subway tile. We achieved a more modern look in the shower by stacking instead of staggering the tile. The look creates clean lines. In the vanity space, we used the same black floor tile but staggered it for a different but complementary look that adds interest.
