We’re so excited to share a closer look at the design details in our newest project, Sunset Shores. This home blends warm modern architecture with relaxed coastal elements, creating spaces that feel fresh, layered, and livable. Today we’re breaking down the key trends we used throughout the home — and why we love them.

1. Warm Woods Everywhere

One of the biggest trends you’ll see throughout this home is the use of warm wood tones. From the tongue-and-groove ceilings to the custom cabinetry and slatted millwork, wood adds depth and warmth in a way that feels timeless.

In the kitchen, we paired light oak cabinetry with a darker stained island for contrast. The wood ceilings continue into the dining space, visually connecting the rooms and adding architectural interest without overwhelming the palette.

Why we love it:

• Warms up modern spaces instantly

• Pairs beautifully with white walls and stone

• Feels elevated but still relaxed

2. Slatted & Fluted Millwork

Fluting and vertical slat detailing are having a moment — and we embraced it throughout Sunset Shores.

You’ll see it on:

• The kitchen island panels

• Custom bathroom vanities

• The staircase divider

• Built-in bunk detailing

The vertical lines add subtle texture and movement while keeping the design clean and modern. It’s a simple detail that makes cabinetry feel custom and high-end.

3. Statement Stone with Soft Movement

We leaned into stone with beautiful natural veining and subtle movement. In the bathrooms, we paired warm wood vanities with marble countertops and backsplash details that feel organic and elevated.

In the pantry area, darker stone adds drama and contrast against lighter shelving and walls.

The key is balance — letting the stone be a feature while keeping the surrounding finishes soft and neutral.

4. Mixed Metals (Done Right)

Rather than sticking to one metal, we layered finishes thoughtfully throughout the home.

• Warm brass faucets and hardware

• Matte black plumbing fixtures

• Woven and natural light fixtures with dark accents

Mixing metals adds dimension and prevents a space from feeling flat. The trick is repeating each finish at least twice so it feels intentional.

7. Woven & Organic Lighting

Lighting is one of the easiest ways to introduce warmth and character. Throughout the project, we incorporated woven pendants and textured sconces to soften the modern lines of the architecture.

The oversized woven dining pendants are a favorite — they anchor the space and add that relaxed coastal touch.

The Overall Trend: Warm Modern Coastal

If we had to define the biggest takeaway from Sunset Shores, it’s this: modern design is getting warmer.

We’re moving away from stark contrast and leaning into:

• Soft whites instead of bright white

• Warm wood instead of cool gray

• Organic textures instead of overly polished finishes

The result is a home that feels calm, welcoming, and timeless.
