Our Family Ties Custom Build has beautiful neutral bedrooms each with their own personality. Today we are sharing three design tips we used to create welcoming layered spaces.
Build from the Ground Up
When you add a rug layer, not only do you add a soft step, but you create a foundation for your design. It can help set the tone of the space and also give you a color palette to pull from. In the master bedroom of Family Ties, this beautiful neutral patterned rug helps create a soft sophisticated vibe. We definitely recommend adding a rug even if your space is carpeted. It adds interest to the space and feels more complete.
Keep Key Pieces Neutral and Pair with Colorful Accents
Furniture is an investment. Make sure you don’t tire of it by sticking to neutral pieces that feel timeless. In both of these bedrooms, we selected natural woods and soft upholstery, but added a colorful accessory in each space that pops. Art, pillows, and throws can get the look your loving now, but can affordably be swapped out when your mood changes.
Make Lighting a Focal Point
Consider lighting that adds personality and interest. We love to layer several lighting sources throughout a room. Make a statement with a large scale chandelier or pendant above, flank a built-in window seat with sconces, and add bedside lamps for late night reading.
