Today I’m excited to reveal one of my favorite projects to date. I had the pleasure of working with Amber Fillerup Clark of Barefoot Blonde on her New York City apartment. I love the imagery captured by Stephanie Sunderland because I get to see my client, in her home, enjoying it with her darling family. It really makes the space come alive. Have a look inside…
The project was to design the living room space of her apartment which I divided into three different areas: the living area, gallery wall/media, and dining area. Today, I want to share with you the overall vision of the space from the beginning of the design process to the finished installation.
The idea for the living area was a fresh modern look with an eclectic mix. I made sure the space felt open with a light foundation from crisp white walls, white roman shades from The Shade Store and a Safavieh Moroccan style creme rug. The white and brass Kathy Kuo coffee table was the perfect centerpiece for the space.
Amber loves a fun mix of color. We also wanted the space to feel comfortable and family friendly. The beautiful caramel leather sofa from Article, with its clean, mid-century lines grounded the space. I wanted a leather sofa with style and amazing quality and they had a great selection to choose from. Then I layered in texture and color with blue velvet and floral upholstered statement chairs. Pops of color from unique throw pillows from Lulu and Georgia complete the look. It’s a fun space with sophisticated elements where her family can entertain and enjoy each other.
The gallery wall is a display of Amber’s collected art and some new finds. These amazing brass book shelves from Lulu and Georgia define the space. They add shine and create the perfect display for collected treasures. The artwork frames the television, making the whole wall a beautiful statement. The polished, mid-century media cabinet is a chic way to store toys and electronics.
I love the eclectic, collected feel of this apartment. It reflects Amber’s fun personality and unique personal style. The dining room is a great example of this mix. I was looking for the perfect dining table to pair with the feminine and modern elements of the design, and I found this unique one from Rove Concepts. I love it’s a polished white coat with wood design. It ties in the warmth from the living area and adds a modern look with it’s mid-century lines. Clear dining chairs leave the space feeling open and airy. The Surya rug in bohemian red hues adds interest and color and a large, curved floor lamp gives light. A twist on a traditional option of a chandelier.
Seeing Amber and her family in this space makes the whole vision for this design complete. It’s a colorful, modern and happy space for her to share with her loved ones. I’m so excited to work with Amber on upcoming projects and share all the details with you as they come together. Check back soon more detailed posts on this project. Have a wonderful day!
