The upcoming holiday season is best when spent with friends and family. I am so excited to have everyone over to help celebrate. With that in mind, I of course am thinking of how to spruce my home to make it feel fresh and welcoming. I have a few favorite styling tricks that are easy and affordable but really make a difference. We’ve partnered with Walmart.com in styling out our new Spanish Modern project to show you how little tweaks throughout your home can create a warm welcome for your guests.
My favorite finishing touch in a kitchen is styling the counter with a layered mix of cutting boards. It’s convenient to have them at hand but also makes for great eye candy! In this kitchen we wanted the modern look of medium wood tones, so used this beautiful board. We found it, plus a few more at Walmart.com. They have a great selection, find a mix of shapes and wood tones you love to create a pretty layered look.
Welcome! With the holidays just around the corner, I’ve been sprucing up my home. I love to entertain during the holidays. It gives me the chance to celebrate and enjoy the people I love. It’s this time of year that my dining area gets the most use. Holiday dinners with family and friends are some of my family’s fondest memories. With this in mind, I decided to give my dining area a little makeover.
I love to create a modern/bohemian mix when designing my home. My favorite new addition to my dining room are these woven chairs, available at Walmart.com. The chairs’ classic, mid-century lines paired with the laced strapping were the perfect fit for this space. Their light natural wood color is a great contrast to bold, black dining table.
To give the space a festive, cozy feel, I added some soft, faux fur rugs thrown over the chairs. It’s an easy way to accessorize the space, dressing it up a little. I also found these rugs affordably at Walmart.com.

It’s Thanksgiving week! For those of you hosting, are you ready for your home to be filled with friends and family? Even though there are only a few days left, it is not too late for last minute updates that will be to make your guests feel at home. The bathroom is a space you are going to want to prioritize. It’s a small space that with a few tweaks can be transformed.
Even an old bathroom can get a major facelift with a new mirror and lighting. And although there are a lot of high end options that look amazing, there are also tons of great choices for those on a budget. Try a mirror in an interesting shape or beautiful frame to make a statement. It can even draw attention away from older tile. This round mirror is an affordable favorite. For sconces at a great price, check out Wayfair and this post on Splurge and Save Sconces.
You definitely want your guest bathroom to feel like a neutral space for your visitors to make their own for a few days. You do not want them walking in to find a counter full of your cosmetics and lotions. Clear away clutter and bathroom supplies, like tissues and cleaners, by hiding them away in baskets. Baskets are also a great way to display pretty towels while making them easy to find for your guests.
Provide guests with fresh new towels. Not only will they help create a spa-like feel in the bathroom, but can also be put on display to add a layer of pretty texture. Consider a turkish towel hanging by the sink or displayed on a ladder like in my Las Palmas bathroom below.
Leaving your bathroom walls bare is a missed opportunity. Add color and create interest with a beautiful print, framed textile, or fill an empty corner with oversized pottery.
There are of course plenty of lux bath mats that would look beautiful and create a soft step for your visiting friends, but another way to go is to warm up the bathroom with a beautiful vintage rug. It protects your floors and makes an artistic statement.
Take your hospitality to the next level by providing your guests with essentials that they may have left at home. Style a beautiful tray with a toothbrush, toothpaste, hair care, lotion, and soap. Add a fresh smelling candle a bit of greenery to complete the look.
A bathroom is an intimate space. Most of these ideas can be done quickly and inexpensively but can transform your guest bath into a welcoming space for visitors. If you missed our earlier posts on prepping for holiday house guests, read here and here.
