There’s a kitchen design trend that we have been using in our recent projects. Instead of all wall-mounted above-the-counter cabinets, we’ve been dedicating a portion of the kitchen to floor to ceiling cabinetry. Read on to see three reasons we love the trend and how it looks in our spaces.

Creates a Clean Modern Look

Instead of uppers and lowers that break up the space, a wall of cabinets creates a clean modern look. Although the trend works in all style kitchens, accentuate a clean modern look by choosing flat front cabinetry.

Adds Tons of Storage

We love the airy look of open shelving, but the downside is that it takes away storage space from a kitchen. A wall of floor to ceiling cabinetry across from your open shelves solves this problem, making your kitchen functional as well as beautiful. Style your prettiest wood and ceramic accessories on your open shelves, and then hide the rest in cabinets.

Conceals Appliances

A wall of floor to ceiling cabinets can conceal your major appliances. Here, in Amber Fillerup Clark’s Kitchen, a fridge is embedded within the cabinetry. It’s a way to keep the appliance from being major focal point of the space.
