A question we often get asked is if mixing metals is ok? The answer is yes! In fact, we love to mix metals in almost all our designs. Gold, brass, silver, antiqued or polished, all metals can work together to create a beautiful design. Below are three examples of the art of combining and layering different metals.
When we remodeled this bathroom, we started with a blank slate. The space was all white, basic white tile, white sinks and silver faucets. After we wallpapered with a bold geometric print, we hung gold octagon framed mirrors for a pop of color and shine. A simple antiqued, gold pot with a succulent tied in the mirrors and blended well with the silver faucets. A plain bathroom became modern and chic.
The mixed metals in this bedroom give it character and interest. Gold hardware pops off the white nightstand. A brass lamp accents the neutrals in the bed textiles. One of our favorite elements is the silver framed agate from House of Jade Interiors. The soft hues of the agate are highlighted by the contrasting silver metal frame. For this kitchen we selected beautiful polished chrome faucets. We also loved the steel color of the range. We added polished silver hardware on the cabinetry. Then, we decided on gold statement pendants to draw the eye to the light in the kitchen. These lights are like the art in this space. The mixing of metals in this space keeps the clean white kitchen from from feeling sterile, creating an eclectic, curated space.
Don’t be afraid to have a little fun mixing metals as you design. The result will be a unique space with character and interest. We hope you’ve enjoyed our tips on mixing metals. Have a great weekend!
