First Impressions

We all like to make a good first impression. In a home your entryway is the first thing people see and sometimes the only space they will see. With this in mind, we like to give the entryway a little personality. With a few details it can become a beautiful inviting space, and set the tone for the feel of the rest of the home.

We usually start by picking a light fixture. Light is a very important element in an entryway, especially with evening visitors. Your entry light can be grand or simple, but we like to choose something that reflects the style of the rest of the home. Next, we like to select a rug. In this modern bohemian home, we chose a rug from Amber Interiors. The vivid colors and ethic patterns in the rug immediately suggest vibes of world travel.

We love to display artwork in an entryway. It’s a great place to have a little fun and find something that can have a big impact. In this bohemian Menlo Park home you are greeted by an unexpected juju hat.  For the beach house entry below, we choose an abstract print with beautiful ocean blues.

Since the entry is usually a smaller space, a console is often all that is needed to furnish it. For the Menlo Park project we chose an acrylic console to mix in a contemporary element. In the beach house we picked a natural wood console. Then, we accessorized with a few collected items.

For a final touch, nothing says welcome better than fresh flowers. With attention to a few details your entry will become an enticing sneak peak of your home and leave your guests with a beautiful first impression.

I love the color combinations in this room! It’s light and airy but still has bright colors. Would you mind sharing the wall color?
