How to Create a Modern Playroom

September 24, 2014

how to make a modern playroom

Our client wanted this loft space to be stylish and sophisticated, but also be unique and interesting.  Which is always fun when you are a designer.  This space is a great example of how to create a modern playroom and still keep it refined. The first thing we found for the room was this amazing vintage spark light, this was a great starting point for the room. Then we found a bold wallpaper that we loved so, we wanted to find fun textile patterns that would play off each other. There are only three prints in the room. They are all strong enough to stand on their own, yet they compliment one another. We love how the minimal feel of the space is juxtaposed with the business of the prints. Finally, we added a personal touch with the gallery wall. See below for the before and after pics of this modern playroom.

Beside the obivious, amazing design skills. I love how you both place gallery walls. They are their are own moment. I’ve follow Nikki for years, and loved her touch on gallery walls then. Now I’m thrilled to see you sticking to the roots.

    Once again, bravo ladies.

P.S. Not sure if this was a “little box home” but I love how you take the everyday room, something we can all relate to, and turn it up 100 degrees. Perfection.

I can’t stop staring at this room. I keep seeing it pop up on pinterest and each time, I have to literally stare for a few minutes each time. ha ha. So gorgeous! Nicole, I have been a fan since your white kitchen post and thought you went away! I was so excited to see you were one of the ladies behind this gem. Love your style!

[…] This room caught my attention immediately 1) because of the amazing light fixture and 2) because of how there’s a lot going on but also not much going on at the same time, you know what I mean?  There’s color, but it’s still muted, patterns, but they don’t compete with each other.  I’d want something like my future office to have this same style and feel.
