How to create a formal space in an open floor plan

Come in and have a seat, stay for awhile. In this beach house entry way we decided to create a space that was beautiful and inviting.  Since this home was an open floorplan we wanted to make a sitting area that was visable from the front door, separate from the family room.  It was a way to add a formal element but stay true to the relaxed feel of the beach house. First, we laid a white cow hide rug to create the space. Then we added the furniture. It was sophisticated and simple, two upholstered lounged chairs and a light wood pedestal table. We finished with a few accessories and some beautiful pillows. The result was a formal space in an open floor plan. To create this look for your home, see our selections below. Also, take a peek at our post below about how we gather our inspirations on pinterest. We’ve highlighted some of our favorite boards. Have a great day!

I am trying to choose a white paint for a room. I love the look of the white paint used in this room. Would you mind sharing the walls, trim and ceiling?
