How to Add Warmth to your Black and White Kitchen

Black and white kitchens are timeless. White is fresh and airy, while black adds depth and drama. Although it’s a look to love, we’ve recently received emails from those of you worried that your black and white kitchen is feeling too flat and stark. Today we are sharing five trending ways to add warmth to your black and white kitchen.

Leather Counter Stools

Rich caramel leather counter stools break up this black and white space. Leather furniture has been trending, especially woven leather. We love the look, but here opted for clean-lined backless stools. Shop the look here.

Moroccan Zelige Tile

Zelige tile adds so much warmth to a kitchen, without changing the black and white color palette. Because the tile is handmade, it adds dimension and a warm artisan vibe. The high gloss finish reflects the light and shows off the variation of color in each tile. Although white subway tile is classic, if you are worried your space feels too simple and stark consider upgrading.

Wood Open Shelving

For added warmth to a white wall, opt for unpainted open shelving in wood. Although wood tones have been trending toward medium and dark tones, we like light wood open shelving if we are really trying to create contrast and warmth in a black and white kitchen.

Brass Accents

Brass hardware, fixtures, and lighting add warmth and shine to your space. Swapping these out is a relatively inexpensive update that keeps your black and white kitchen from feeling cold.

Rustic Wood Ceiling Details

Ok, this is our Summit Creek Project bathroom, but the trend looks equally good in a kitchen. Add rustic beams or wood paneling to your ceiling to create a new warm vibe. Here, we chose a herringbone pattern that adds a lot of movement in the space. Don’t forget that simple styling can add warmth as well. Add a colorful vintage runner, a stack of wood cutting boards in varied wood tones, and some fresh cut greens in a terra-cotta pot.. Happy Tuesday! Xxo Becki

Hi, the white walls and cabinetry are painted Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace. The island and pantry door are painted Benjamin Moore Black Panther. The hardware is the Grafton Pull from Restoration Hardware. Hope this helps:)

What size are the grafton pulls that you used in your kitchen? And I have been reading through your blog for the grout color you used with the sea salt colored tile. Could you help me with that?
May I ask what the thickness of your black counter top that you used on the counter top? What was the color name? Do you have a recommendation for a company to do counter tops in utah? Thank you Becki for your inspirations and for the help. I am a fan💗

We used both 6″ and 12″ of the Grafton pull depending the drawer size. Regarding grout we used for the sea salt zellige tile grout – alabaster or snow white, and for weathered white tile grout snow white. Thank You

This is my favorite kitchen Becki! No doubt you have heard that before. lol. There is something so cozy & timeless about the black, white, and wood vibe. I have had tile shops warn me against black countertops, due to fingerprints and keeping it clean. Have you had this issue? Can you tell me the name of the island and surround counter tops? Greatly appreciate your talent lady!!
