DIY Kitchen Dining Transformation

For this Kitchen dining area I wanted to create a completely new, fresh look within a reasonable budget. Before I started, I assessed what could be salvaged and what I needed to purchase. I knew immediately I could update the table and benches which was the main expense in the space, leaving room for accents that would really make a statement. Take a look at this fun DIY kitchen dining transformation.

The table and benches were originally a dark espresso stained wood from Pier One Imports. I used a white lacquer paint with no pigment to transform them into a bright, polished new look. To accent the new white and add some warmth, I purchased leather strapped elbow chairs to dress up the ends of the table.

Orignally, there were bare windows and large, plain, glass sliding doors. I hung white linen drapes and roman shades on the windows to frame them with a softer look. The brass metal hardware brightened the space and added a surprise element of shine.

I choose a blue dhurrie rug for practical use and to compliment the Benjamin Moore, Balboa Mist wall color. Then, I styled the space by laying sheepskin rugs along the benches, (These work great as an alternative to an upholstered cushion), some aqua glass vases, and a vintage wood bread bowl that was hung as wall art.

With a little DIY and some new additions, what was a dark, lack luster kitchen nook, transformed into a bright and updated space. See below for complete resources. Have a nice day!

I love the aqua glass vases that you use. In fact, I love all of the vases that seemed to be sprinkled throughout your portfolio. Would you share where you purchase these?

By the way, I am so glad that you are continuing with the web site as it has been. I am so thankful for your “Latest Finds”! I cannot recall exactly how many items I have purchased from this gem of information, but it has been many, many items! Thanks!

Curious if you installed the living room too. I love that floor lamp with the oversized white shade that you can see next to the couch in the first picture, and was curious if you know where it’s from?
