My hometown of San Clemente, CA is full of design inspiration. Set against the rocky coastline and palm-lined streets, the beautiful homes are grounded by historical detail but with a modern California edge. One of my favorite things to do is to go on drives for design inspiration. So when Jaguar gave me the opportunity to try out the Jaguar XF for a day, I decided to use it as a chance to visit some of my projects and gather inspiration.
My first stop was one of my favorite neighborhoods, where I finished a recent, custom build. Like the XF, my modern Mediterranean project is a classic made fresh. It has a distinctive design with clean lines, wraparound LED taillights, and stunning proportions.
In each home I design, I like to include features that make a statement. In this custom build, the exterior statement is the large steel-grid doors that welcome guests. They are a work of art, and this one feature elevates the design.
The home is in a beautiful neighborhood where architectural details and manicured landscaping make the neighborhood feel dialed-in and luxurious. It was fun to explore these homes in a car that matched the refined aesthetic.
The XF fits my aesthetic but also my lifestyle. When I am not with my family, I spend a lot of time on the road visiting my projects, driving up and down the coastline between the beach towns and LA. The car has some features that would make my life more convenient. One of my favorites was the reverse camera. With four kids, there is always something unexpected in my driveway. The camera has an extra-wide angle so you can catch everything behind you. Plus, it lights up so you can use it day or night. I also thought the InControl Touch infotainment system was very easy to use while driving. Its 8-inch screen had touch and swipe control of sound, temperature, and climate.
I spend my days searching out the highest quality materials to use in my designs, and so I was immediately impressed by the interior styling of the XF. It is spacious with sleek lines and rich leather that feels smooth and luxurious to the touch.
My husband and I took the car for a night out. He had a chance to drive and loved it. It had super smooth handling and a lot of pick-up. While we were out, three people asked us what we were driving. You don’t see a lot of these Jaguars on the road and so for a luxury business sedan, it feels different and not like everything you see.
I loved the lines and design of the Jaguar XF, iconic design with modern lines and edgy styling. In my work, I freshen up traditional builds with steel windows, rich dark textiles, matte black fixtures, or cement tiles with bold geometric details–adding polish and edge through clean lines and dark accents. This Jaguar XF does the same; notice the black berry black paint color and rim details.
Jaguar is a classic from the drive to the design, the XF has all this with edge. I loved having the chance to experience driving it. From visiting projects to evening escapes with my husband it aligns perfectly with my lifestyle and aesthetic. Thank you for joining me for a day of inspiration with Jaguar and thanks to Jaguar/Land Rover for partnering with me for this post. Check back soon for more pictures of my modern Mediterranean project. Have a wonderful day!
