My goal for this kitchen was to create a fresh, bright and inviting gathering space. I wanted to give the kitchen an update with some clean new finishes and transform it from a darker tuscan feel to light and larger feeling space.
Before
After
I started by painting all the cabinetry a white semi-gloss lacquer with no pigment.
I chose Calcutta marble, 3″x12″ subway tiles with white grout for the kitchen backsplash. For the island and counters I picked a 2″,honed Calcutta marble with a clean, mitered edge. Restoration Hardware silver pulls and knobs blended well with the cool tones in the marble.
One of my favorite elements of the kitchen are the glass, globe, pendant lights (similar). I love the mix of the metals in the kitchen from the antique brass on the lights.
For some soft color I added a custom made linen, roman shade. And then, for a little warmth I styled the kitchen with some wood cutting boards, fresh flowers and kilim rugs.
I loved working on this tuscan kitchen remodel. It’s so fun to create a completely new look with new finishes and accessories. I hope you have enjoyed seeing the before and after pictures of this project. Have a wonderful Monday!

Hi Becki. Are the cabinets sprayed? Everyone around here seems to think that painted cabinets will be sticky and will chip. Can you tell me the exact paint you used? Thanks so much! Wish you lived around here!
Yes they are sprayed lacquer.
Did you do anything to lighten the tile floor? In the “before” photo, they appear much darker than in the “after” photos.
We had the grout cleaned really well and it lightened everything up!
Love this kitchen! We recently purchased a home that has cherry cabinets and travertine floors and are looking forward to lightening things up. I will be using this as our inspiration! Found you via Pinterest and looking forward to following your blog!
Thank you!!
Can I ask where you got the stools? They are just what I am looking for!
They were from Crate and barrel, but not sure they have them anymore. Sorry

What is the paint color? So nice next to all the white!
It’s plain white with no pigment in it. Thanks.
