A few months ago, I gave a peek of a beautiful project I was working on in the small charming town of Heber, Utah. Today, I am excited to share the completed kitchen with you. Thank you to the talented Jamie Bellessa who collaborated on the project with us and Lindsay Salazar for the beautiful photos.

The inspiration for this project was a modern farmhouse with rustic and industrial elements. We wanted the kitchen to feel clean and crisp but with a softer look fitting the rural landscape of this quiet mountain town. To keep the kitchen bright, we went with white subway tile backsplash and beautiful Calacatta marble counters with a mitered edge.
We softened the look by choosing Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee paint for the walls and upper cabinets. This white is a favorite of mine for clients that want the white look, but don’t want to risk the space feeling stark or cold. Read my White Paint Guide for more paint tips. To create a more rustic feel we went with a pretty, soft blue for the lower cabinets. We used Benjamin Moore Van Courtland Blue. For more blue paint ideas, read my 2017 Blue Paint Guide.
Brass hardware and faucets look beautiful in the space. We used Waterstone faucets for both the main farmhouse sink and the island prep sink. We also chose Waterstone hardware for the cabinet pulls or consider these for a similar look.
For lighting, we continued creating our rustic vibe with the simple-lined iron Darlana Lantern by Visual Comfort over the butcher block island and paired it with a pair of industrial Timpano pendants from Currey and Co.
A vintage kilim runner adds a bit of bright color to the space. This is a favorite kitchen layer of mine that adds interest and warmth.
We styled the kitchen with warm woods like this fruit bowl and cutting board, rustic metal details like this steel and brass tiered serving tray, and blue and white pottery.
Dark wood and brass industrial counter stools create pretty contrast with the soft blue counters. These are from Restoration Hardware, but consider these or these for a similar look at a more affordable price.
I love the way this modern rustic kitchen came together. It feels bright and fresh yet maintains a comfortable warmth. It is a beautiful modern update. I love this kitchen so much and would like to use it as the plan for my reno. I purchased the lower cabinet color and it is more of a grey, not a beautiful blue like yours at all. What finish did you use on the cabinets? My sample is a satin.
I also was curious about the Swiss coffee. Are they two different finishes? They look like slightly different colors in your photo that shows the walls up against the cabinet.
Hi the blue paint is Benjamin Moore Van Courtland Blue . The Swiss Coffee is the same it’s just the lighting in the photo.
The cabinets are lacquer:)
I have been searching for a blue cabinet color for several weeks. The problem is my low light kitchen which is only 10×10 so not too many cabinets.(basic L shape with sink and stove) I finally found your kitchen and this color blue. Looking at your picture in the shadows I think this will work for me. The style is farmhouse bungalow. I never realized how light changes a color so drastically.
