6 Tips for Sprucing your Stoop for Spring

May 11, 2020

Gal Meets Glam Home for Southern Living

With most our time spent at home these days, making home a haven is more important than ever. This year we are loving the idea of extending your living space to your front porch. It’s another way to get outside, wave at and chat with neighbors while still maintaining distance. We have six tips for sprucing your stoop for spring making it a bright spot for your family and passing company.

Layer Planters

My Sweet Savannah

Planters potted with plants of varying colors and heights add depth and dimension to your porch. If you do nothing else, potted plants will add life to your home. We love the idea of embracing this years ceramic trend with hand-thrown planters, or if your on a budget inexpensive terra-cotta always look good.

Find a Fun Doormat

Simply Southern Cottage

An old doormat makes the whole porch feel dumpy. Refresh yours with a custom message or fun pattern. We love tiny Turkish rugs as an alternative to a traditional doormat.

Add a Rug

Blesser House

A small doormat can look lost on a large front stoop. Ground the area with an inexpensive rug to make the space for more intentionally designed. Smaller rugs are very affordable so you don’t have to stress to much if it takes a lot of wear.

Hang a Wreath

Southern Living

So affordable and easy but a wreath on the door can have a major impact on the vibe of your exterior. Find your favorite in our Spring Wreath Roundup.

Light the Space with Lanterns

Mister and Mrs. Sharp

Layers of lighting create a warm inviting space. Hardwiring lighting is a bigger chore, but lanterns filled with candles or fairy lights is nearly effortless and just as charming.

Invest in Seating

Our Sweet Haven

How inviting is this front porch? Furniture is a bigger investment, but you can find incredible deals on really cute chairs or bistro sets. With a comfortable seat you could stay outside for hours.

So fun to welcome warmer weather with a few front porch updates! Share your spaces with us on Instagram! #beckiowensfeature
