Rug Trend: Bohemian Style

One of my favorite trends in rugs right now is a bohemian style rug. Their artistic patterns and vivid colors add vibrance to my clean, minimal designs. These rugs give a space personality. They are a great way to liven up a flat looking space, adding interest and character.

Bohemian style rugs are full of artistic, intricate, busy patterns. They express a wanderlust vibe with their global inspired designs. These rugs can be over-dyed, muted or a blend of bright and subdued colors. Their patterns are often playful and a bit romantic at the same time. They can resembled Persian style rugs, but in less traditional way.

One of the things I love most about these rugs is that there are no rules for decorating with them. In fact, they look best when layered with mixed styles to create an eclectic look. They look beautiful paired with mid-century statement chars, metal or wood coffee tables and clean-lined upholstered furniture. I love to pull from the colors in these rugs and add vintage textiles in various prints to a space. Consider pairing African mud cloth, batik style and even geometric throw pillows with a bohemian rug. The mix in the space is what creates a fabulous eclectic vibe.
