Karyn and Ashly are the co-founders of Loom Goods. They both grew up living all around the world; Karyn lived from Washington DC to Japan and Ashly from New York to Hungary. As young adults they continued their travels and really developed a love of other cultures. After they graduated high school, Karyn and Ashly attended Brigham Young Univervsity, where they met in the dorms and have been close friends ever since. Karyn graduated with a degree in Special Education and Ashly graduated with a degree in Marriage, Family, Human Development. While at BYU, they also met their husbands and were married. Karyn and her husband Dominic live in Portland with their three children: Julian, Luci and Nico. Ashly and her husband Andrew live in Southern California with their four kids: Bennett, Scarlett, Cosette and Elliott. With both husbands working long hours in finance, Karyn and Ashly spent many nights talking on the phone with one another much about motherhood, decorating their homes, travel… Loom Goods unraveled out of all of that.
Today we are partnering with Loom Goods to offer two of their pillows to one of our followers. These pillows, valued at $190, are made of African Mud Cloth. The Bogolan African Mud Cloth used to make this pillow was created by the Bamana tribe in Mali. The tribe uses a unique procedure that makes dyes from mud and leaves. Then the men weave the cotton cloth in narrow strips and sew them together.

When our clients have a need for a work space, but don’t have a designated study or home office, we try and incorporate it into a space to accommodate their needs. Whether it’s in a master bedroom or in a family room, a writing desk can serve as practical piece of furniture without taking over or looking out of place. We love the glass desk in this coastal master bedroom. The transparency of the desk doesn’t distract from the surrounding views and adds beauty to the space. The rest of the decor was kept minimal with a upholstered linen chair and basket for storage. A tall floor lamp was placed next to the desk, leaving the desk simple and uncluttered. Not only does this space blend well with the rest of the master suite, it creates a functional element in an unused area of the room. We hope you enjoy this example of creating a work space in your home. For resources see below. Have a good day.

This butler’s pantry remodel was part of a total transformation of a tuscan kitchen. When we started the counters were a warm gold granite. The backsplash was an light golden brown color. The owner wanted a completely new look, something updated and fresh. We knew right away making the space all white would brighten it up and make it feel larger. We painted the cabinetry white and added custom shelving over the sink, making them open for a pretty display. Then, we selected glossy, white, 2″x7″ subway tiles that went floor to the ceiling on all the surrounding walls and added new marble counters. We made the marble counters substantial, 3 inches thick with a mitered edge. Then, we changed out the faucets to a modern polished chrome. Finally, we styled the shelves with new dishes and accessorized the counters with a basket for cookbooks, new canisters for baking supplies, and a cutting board and utensils for food prep. The result was a new butler’s pantry that is not only bright and beautiful, but practical too. For the styling resources for this space see below. Have a great day!
