My marketing director shared with me images from her recent trip to the desert. We were both drooling over the amazing mid-century designs of the homes in old Palm Springs. There are so many of these homes there it’s like a mid-century mecca. Take a look at some of the Desert Modern curb appeal.
This pink door house is incredible. All white, with a pop of my favorite color. It also has the signature silver accents from the house numbers and lighting.
Many of these homes are in the Old Las Palmas and Las Palmas neighborhoods. They were built starting in the 1920’s, but mainly constructed in mid 20th century and were the homes of many hollywood celebrities. These sleek homes were built to embrace their desert surroundings. They are built for indoor/outdoor living with a lot of glass and several have concealed entry courtyards with pools.
These landscapes are all so carefully manicured. I loved the clean lines from shaped hedges, trimmed palms and strategically placed cacti. The colors and shapes of the desert plants echo the design of the homes.
One of the charming characteristics of these homes are the pops of electric, pastel color from the front doors. There is a lot of mint, yellow, pink and robin egg blue used throughout these neighborhoods. I also love the unique pendant lights in the entry ways, like the spark light seen on the “yellow-door” house above.
It’s been fun to enjoy the eye candy of this desert oasis. Now my mind is swimming with mid-century inspiration. I hope they have inspired you like they have me. Have a great week.
