Livable Coastal Modern Home

Do you remember my post awhile back about making a statement entry? Well it’s finally time to share more of my Calle Tamara project. I’m excited to take you inside the kitchen and family room of this beautiful home, where a fun family of 7 lives and entertains.

The kitchen of this home is light and bright with crisp white cabinetry, Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace painted walls, calcutta marble countertops and calcutta marble tile backsplash. The european oak floors create a nice warm contrast. With such a classic, neutral foundation, I decided to add colorful, modern elements to make a statement and create a fresh new look for the space.

I love these brass cone pendants in this kitchen. They give the kitchen a wow factor. I like using the mix of brass in an otherwise cool toned space. Silver appliances, hardware and gray wishbone counter stools blend together allowing for pops of warmth from the light fixtures and woven seats.

The dining nook is one of my favorite spaces. I love the faceted glass pendant light over a more coastal, rustic dining table. The bistro chairs bring in some subtle blue color. It’s a fresh, cheery place for a large family to talk and dine.

The kitchen opens to a large family room. It’s a wonderful open floor plan. I wanted each space to play off each other and work well for entertaining. I choose large, deep, comfortable seating and specifically a backless daybed to maintain an open feel from the kitchen to the family room.

The furniture has a California cool vibe with clean modern lines and vintage textile accessories. My goal was to create a new eclectic mix with mid-century, bohemian and transitional elements. This included a layered a Safavieh natural fiber rug and global inspired blue and white rug to give the space some fun color durability.

The styled bookshelves and wood coffee table make the space come together in a cohesive overall design.

This coastal modern home was one of my favorite projects to date. I loved working with all the natural light in this pretty home and with such wonderful clients. It’s a great home to relax, enjoy and build great memories with friends and family. For a list of resources and how to get the look in your own home see below. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Hey Becki, so I have been in love with this room for a while now. I am Finally about to pull the trigger and buy these leather chairs from restoration hardware. So my next question is, the color of the leather. I am leaning towards the cognac and will be getting samples. I definitely love the color you have choose and was wondering if I could pay you a fee to tell me the color you choose and to save me from guessing? Is that something you do? Also I would be willing to pay for the day bed sofa source as well. If you are not comfortable with this, then I completely understand. Thank you so much. Alyse Shepard
