Today I am excited to share the library of our Heber House Project collaboration with Jamie Bellessa. This is a cozy space that pairs fresh whites with natural woods and layers of patterned indigos for a fresh rustic warmth. To maintain the rustic charm of this mountain home, we kept the floors, trim, and exposed beams a dark wood that looks beautiful with the natural stone-wrapped pillars, but lightened the look with white walls painted Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee. Instead of creating a seamless line with the built-in shelves the same white, we decided to add contrast and an additional layer of depth by painting them Benjamin Moore Black Satin. This black creates a rich background for styled books, pictures, and greenery.
We grounded the space with a favorite rug of ours, the Surya Zahra. I used this rug in a different color way in my Teen Space. It is a hand-knotted wool rug that wears well. The rich color and intricate pattern adds beautiful texture to the space. We chose a large empire chandelier that mimics the intricate texture of the rug and visually lowers the tall ceilings.
We finished the space with an assortment of indigo pillows and a rustic pot-bellied basket.
This warm inviting space uses rich saturated color against fresh whites and rustic woods. It’s a cozy nook perfect for lounging in this comfortable mountain home.
