This was one of our favorite kitchen transformations. What was once a tuscan style kitchen became a fresh, white modern kitchen. Our inspiration was a timeless white design, updated with modern accents. To update the walls, we had our drywaller smooth out the orange peel texture before we painted them a white satin finish. Then, we used a white paint color with no pigment to give the cabinetry a modern crisp look. The cabinetry was sanded and primed and then sanded again before being painted with a semi gloss lacquer. For a timeless element, we picked a handmade 2×7 white subway tile and a large white marble island. We chose Colorado Gold Marble for the large island. It was 3″ thick, with with a mitered edge to create clean modern lines.
One of the fun things about designing this kitchen was mixing the finish materials. Our client expressed she loved gold, but didn’t want it over done. We replaced the pendant lights with modern gold lanterns and choose a beautiful white drum light for the eating area. To add a some warmth we picked modern wood barstools. We choose polished chrome for the cabinetry hardware and faucets. Then, we style the kitchen with french wood cutting boards, a natural wood bowl and white ceramic canisters. See below for more pictures and the process of this white modern kitchen remodel. We hope you enjoy seeing the transformation.
