At Home: My Family’s Favorite Smoothie Recipe

Mornings around my house move quickly. With four kids, my husband and I work together to get everyone ready, out the door and hopefully on time to school. It’s important to me to make sure they get a good breakfast. I feel like it gives them a good start and the energy they need to get through the day. The challenge is to make something fast, easy and of course healthy.

Oh and one more thing…it’s much better if I can make something everyone likes. It really saves time. I’ve found my kids and even my husband all love a good green smoothie. It’s such a quick, healthy way to get everyone fed.

Another plus is that my daughter Ivy loves to help. I just bought a new Crux blender and she loves to help me add all the ingredients and then push the smoothie button. I love this blender because it has a sleek, modern design with copper accents that works well with my kitchen styling. Plus it was affordable, which is a huge plus! You may remember the details of my kitchen in my “Affordable White Kitchen” post. Everything in this space is fresh, modern and budget-friendly, that includes the appliances.

This smoothie is now a part of my daily routine with my kids. Since it’s so quick and easy, it gives us an extra moment to talk. That actually means a lot. I want them to feel good in every way when they head out the door.

Sometimes my son, who is my oldest and also a teenager, isn’t quite satisfied with just a smoothie. He loves a toasted bagel with some meat and cheese. When I got my blender, I also saw this toaster oven and grabbed it. It’s been perfect. It’s easy to clean and use. They use it a lot after school too for mini pizzas and snacks.

I don’t like to leave a lot out on the counter. Less is more in my mind when it comes to styling a kitchen, but it’s nice to have things handy when your in a hurry. The Crux blender and toaster oven fit with the modern, minimal look I love. I can leave them out because they blend with my overall kitchen design.
